Young Engineers Colloquium 2025

The Young Engineers Colloquium (YEC) is an annual event organized by the German group of IABSE for young engineers and pratictioners. We are happy to announce that the 8th Young Engineers Colloquium will take place at the Hochschule München.

You are a young engineer and want to present your student project, PhD research paper or construction project within this colloquium? This colloquium offers you the opportunity to present your interesting project from university, research or construction practice to an audience of fellow engineers from the civil engineering sector. It provides attendees with an overview of current research topics as well as challenging construction projects and is an excellent platform to exchange ideas among experienced and young engineers.

Greetings from the President of IABSE - Dr. Tina Vejrum

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we can announce the Young Engineers Colloquium (YEC) to take place in Munich, Germany, in November 2025. The YEC, organized by the German Group of IABSE in collaboration with another IABSE Group – this time in partnership with the Italian Group – is a much-valued event for students and young professionals to present their work, exchange ideas, inspire each other, meet seniors from the profession, make new contacts and expand their network. The YEC event builds on two fundamental core values of IABSE: The importance of young professionals in pushing for development and the need for international collaboration to achieve real change. This important Colloquium brings young professionals in engineering, architecture and design together during two intense days of learning and discussing of innovative ideas that will ultimately shape our future sustainable and liveable societies.

Greetings from the Chair of the German Group of IABSE - Prof. Geralt Siebert

For the 8th time the German Group organizes a Young Engineers Colloquium in Germany. I am very pleased, that the national group of Italy supports the event in Munich as co-host. The intermediate YEC in Tokyo in May 2025 is organized by the Japanese Group together with other Asian and the German Group, it is held outside Europe and by this we do not include it to our counting. The 8th YEC will follow the well-known spirit of IABSE: young engineers find a platform to interact, exchange knowledge, share ideas, network and have fun together on an international level. I am looking forward to welcome many engineers – young and experienced – from academia and practice for exciting days in Bavaria’s capital Munich.

Greetings from the Chair of the Italian Group of IABSE - Prof. Maria Pina Limongelli

The German IABSE group has been organizing the annual Young Engineers Colloquium (YEC) since 2014, often in cooperation with other IABSE national groups. It is a great honor and pleasure for the Italia IABSE Group to be a partner this year in the organization of the YEC 2025 in Munich. This event is designed to provide a platform where early career engineers can connect with like-minded professionals, peers, and mentors, share knowledge, learn, get inspired by one another, and build connections. Early career researchers have the opportunity to showcase their research, young professionals can present their latest activities fostering collaboration, thought-provoking discussions, and valuable network opportunities toward innovation in engineering. I encourage engineers in the early years of their careers to participate in this exciting event that I am sure will be a memorable and impactful experience in the years to come of their career.
