The Young Engineers Colloquium (YEC) is an annual event organized by the German group of IABSE for young engineers and pratictioners. We are happy to announce that the 9thYoung Engineers Colloquium will take place in Stuttgart.

You are a young engineer and want to present your student project, PhD research paper or construction project within this colloquium? This colloquium offers you the opportunity to present your interesting project from university, research or construction practice to an audience of fellow engineers from the civil engineering sector. It provides attendees with an overview of current research topics as well as challenging construction projects and is an excellent platform to exchange ideas among experienced and young engineers.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the Young Engineers Colloquium (YEC) 2026, to be held in Stuttgart on 13th and 14th November 2026, organised jointly by the German and French National Groups of IABSE. The YEC is a vibrant and valued platform for students and young professionals to present their work, exchange ideas, and connect across borders. It reflects two essential pillars of IABSE: empowering the next generation of engineers and fostering international collaboration.

Over two inspiring days, participants will engage in technical discussions, share innovative research and practical experiences, and build lasting professional networks. I warmly encourage young engineers to take part in this exciting event and contribute towards shaping a safe, sustainable and resilient built environment for the future.

For the 9th time, the German Group organizes a Young Engineers Colloquium in Germany. I am very pleased, that the national group of France supports the event in Stuttgart as co-host. The thriving format to meet for exchanging knowledge, sharing experience and having a good time on international level is characteristic to YEC as well as for IABSE. I am looking forward to welcome many engineers, young and experienced, from academia and practice to share this special spirit in the wonderful city of Stuttgart. a perfect location for organizing an interesting conference as well as excursion to building sites!

As chair of the French National Group of IABSE, it is a pleasure to support this Young Engineers Colloquium in Germany. This event is designed to bring early-career engineers together, share practical experiences, and build useful connections across countries and disciplines.

As part of this spirit, let me briefly introduce the French Association of Civil Engineering (A.F.G.C.), which I represent. The association comprises 1,500 individual members and more than 100 collective members.

We connect engineers and researchers, organise events and visits, foster innovation working groups, and publish leading technical documents. Main topics for today include decarbonising the construction sector, promoting the sharing of knowledge, and encouraging careers to youth. I hope these days in Stuttgart will inspire you, broaden your perspectives, and strengthen collaborations for the future.
